The Bruins are in a bit of a transitional period.
They’re trying to rebuild and they’re trying not to lose too much of the way.
They don’t have a lot of time to sit around and think about their legacy.
They’ve been here for two years, have had a lot to do with the team, and now they’re coming off a playoff run.
This season they were expected to win it all, but there are still a lot more games to play.
And the only way to do that is to find a way to win in Boston.
“There’s a lot that’s going to come up in the next two weeks, so that’s part of it,” defenseman Brandon Carlo said.
“We’ve got to make sure we do it the right way, because that’s the best way to get there.”
Carlo said the Bruins’ plan was to get back to the playoffs, but they weren’t willing to put off that goal until after the postseason.
“It’s kind of been on my mind,” Carlo said, “for the last couple of weeks.
I don’t want to think about it too much, but I definitely want to be in the playoffs and do well.”
The Bruins have been the top seed in the Eastern Conference for three straight seasons.
The teams met last spring, but the Bruins lost to the Islanders.
It was the first time in franchise history the Bruins were eliminated from the playoffs.
They lost to St. Louis, too, but it was the second straight time they were swept by a division rival.
This is the third season in a row the Bruins have played at home, and they have never won at home.
Carlo said they don’t plan to do it again.
“I don’t think that’s on us,” he said.
The Bruins, though, have some other things on their minds this season.
They still have a few games to get over the hump.
And they also still have the playoffs to look forward to.
The playoffs aren’t over yet.
The Kings have a week to prepare, and the Rangers are still playing their final games before the All-Star break.
Both teams are playing on their own turf, and both teams are getting more ready for the playoffs as the season moves along.
Boston has a chance to finish the season in the top three of the conference.
It’s a tall task, but this team is going to do everything it can to win.
“That’s what we’re here for,” Carlo added.
“You can’t let any of that stuff get in the way of that.”
